Indy 500 delayed due to weather
Race set to start after four-hour delay
Track drying has begun, with hopes of getting the race underway soon
The 2024 Indianapolis 500 got under way Sunday after a four-hour weather delay.
The start of the race was delayed as a strong storm moved through the area. The rain was heavy at times, and there was also some lightning.
Track drying began once the storm passed, and the race is now scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. ET.
